WELS supports several areas of ministy that strive to "go and make disciples." These WELS ministries not only reach out to the world, they also support WELS congregrations and members. From missions, to humanitarian aid, to special needs and evangelism, each group faithfully serves to reflect Christ's Love as Our Calling.
WELS Missions seeks to spread God's Word both home and abroad. Home Missions shares the Gospel in North America, and World Missions strives to reach people all over the world – in more than 20 countries.
Christian Aid & Relief
Christian Aid and Relief provides disaster relief and humanitarian aid to people around the world who have been devastated by natural disasters and other tragedies.
Adult Discipleship assists congregations and called workers in helping individuals grow in their relationship with Jesus and become better equipped to use their unique gifts to share Christ’s love.
This ministry helps WELS college students grow in their faith so that they can reach out to other college students with the gospel.
WELS Ministry of Christian Giving encourages members to excel in the grace of giving and assists them in making planned gifts to support the gospel ministry.
The Congregational Counseling Commission was established to provide short-term assessment and advice to congregations seeking to improve their ministry.
This commission assists congregations to seize opportunities the Lord provides to evangelize lost souls by developing and promoting evangelism resources and programs.
Lutheran Schools assist congregations by providing resources, training, and personal assistance for starting and strengthening Lutheran schools
The WELS Military Services Committee provides spiritual services to WELS members and others who serve in the United States Armed Forces.
WELS Ministerial Education works to provide workers for the more than 1,200 churches and 750 schools in the synod through a system of four schools: two high-school-level preparatory schools, a college, and a seminary.
This ministry assists in the production of confessional Christian literature and other mass-media in dozens of languages to help share Christ's gospel message around the world.
Special Ministries offers spiritual and practical guidance and training to congregations and individuals as they share God’s love to those with special needs or in special circumstances.
The Women's Ministry Committee assists our congregations in nurturing, encouraging, and equipping women to faithfully and fully use their God-given gifts to glorify God.
The commission assists congregations by encouraging worship that glorifies God and proclaims Christ’s love. It provides resources and training.
