PREAMBLE

We, the members of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS), recognizing that the Word of God is the ultimate authority and that it provides proper direction in the day-to-day governance of WELS, present this constitution and bylaws to establish the corporate structure of the synod and to further delineate the functional roles of the governing bodies, officers, administrators, areas of ministry, and the administration of the synod.
