CEF president announces retirement
Mr. James Buelow, president of WELS Church Extension Fund (WELS CEF), has announced his retirement effective Dec. 31, 2012. WELS CEF provides financing through loans and grants to help mission congregations purchase land and build facilities for gospel outreach.
"It has been an extreme honor and privilege to serve our Lord through WELS and WELS CEF for almost 13 years. I consider it a blessing to conclude a career spanning over 45 years in finance serving our Lord and Savior," says Buelow.
Mr. Todd Poppe, WELS’ chief financial officer, says, “WELS CEF assets and grants to WELS churches have grown during Jim’s tenure. Jim has provided loyal and outstanding service to WELS CEF investors and to mission and mission-minded congregations. I want to thank him for his leadership and dedicated service to the synod.”
The search for an executive director of WELS CEF to replace Buelow begins immediately. Reporting to the synod’s chief financial officer, the position is responsible for the operation of WELS CEF, which focuses on member investments that provide the capital for making loans and grants to WELS mission and mission-minded congregations and other affiliated organizations.
