The Conference of Presidents has issued calls for two synodical positions. Rev. Kurt Lueneburg, currently serving as a Christian giving counselor in Minnesota, was called to serve as the director of the Ministry of Christian Giving. The Ministry of Christian Giving works with individuals and congregations in fostering support for the work of the synod through Congregation Mission Offerings as well as through current and deferred gifts from individuals. This position will become vacant when Rev. Dave Liggett retires in December.

Rev. James Behringer, now serving at Pilgrim in Menomonee Falls, Wis., was called to serve as the director of the Commission on Special Ministries. This position will become vacant upon the retirement of current director Rev. Carl Ziemer this fall. The Commission on Special Ministries helps congregations serve individuals with special needs. Its various committees develop materials to serve the hearing impaired, the visually impaired, and those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Commission on Special Ministries also coordinates the efforts to minister to those serving in the military, including the work of the WELS civilian chaplain. In addition, it coordinates one of the largest prison ministries in the country.

Please remember Rev. Lueneburg and Rev. Behringer in your prayers as they consider these calls from God to serve.

Serving in Christ,
President Mark Schroeder
