A new Home Missions start in Moncks Corner, S.C., conducted its first service on Sunday, Jan. 13. Held in a temporary location at the Fox Bank community clubhouse, the opening service included members from Beautiful Savior, Summerville, S.C., and new visitors from nearby neighborhoods. Moncks Corners is about 17 miles away from Summerville.

More than 45 people attended the opening service—over half of those were visiting for the first time. Rev. Jonathan Quinn says members of Beautiful Savior, Summerville, were integral in planning this first service in Moncks Corner. “It was a tremendous weekend,” says Quinn. “The wonderful turnout by members of both congregations and their zeal to share their Savior was fantastic to see. Meeting so many people from our new community and having them join us in worship was just incredible. This is just the beginning. We have more room and our members are excited to reach others with the good news. We are thankful to the Lord and humbled by the opportunity to be workers in his kingdom.”

The Summerville and Moncks Corner churches will share the name Beautiful Savior and will continue sharing resources for continued outreach at both locations. The future Moncks Corner church building will be in the Fox Bank neighborhood, just blocks from the temporary clubhouse facility. Quinn hopes that the billboard campaign in the surrounding area and continued word of mouth will be a blessing to the mission.

“Most of our guests have already received follow-up visits with the vast majority saying we will see them again next Sunday! Out of all our visitors, there were between 15 and 20 who do not have a church home—this is a tremendous blessing and opportunity. We look forward to getting to know them better, and more important, helping them to know their Savior,”  says Quinn.
