MINNESOTA
The Martin Luther College Choir toured the midwestern and southern United States from Feb. 26–Mar. 10. It held a homecoming concert on Mar. 21 at the Chapel of the Christ on MLC's campus in New Ulm, Minn.
Dr. David Wendler of Martin Luther College, New Ulm, Minn., was commended by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools for his "leadership and innovation in accreditation."
SOUTH CENTRAL
On Feb. 19, a group of 36 volunteers participated in the annual work day held at Camp Shiloh, Pittsburg, Texas. South Central District members from Texas and Oklahoma, along with "winter Texans" from Minnesota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin gathered for a day of fellowship and an outdoor service.
From Jan. 17–22, 20 WELS members in central Texas traveled to Peridot, Ariz., to work on the San Carlos Apache Reservation, the oldest mission station in WELS. These 20 volunteers helped with maintenance projects and offered encouragement to their Apache brothers and sisters. The Lone Star Chapter of WELS Kingdom Workers organized this project.
SOUTHEASTERN WISCONSIN
St. John, Mukwonago, Wis., dedicated its new church building on Feb. 28.
WESTERN WISCONSIN
During March 12–14, more than 170 musicians from 21 Lutheran high schools came together at Luther High School, Onalaska, Wis., for the 50th annual WELS Band Festival. A festival concert was held at Luther High School on Mar. 14.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
MI—The Lutheran Association for Church Extension, Inc. (LACE), based in Saginaw, Mich., is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2010. LACE has helped more than 240 self-supporting WELS congregations construct new worship facilities or additions.
St. Paul, Saginaw, Mich., celebrated the 40th anniversary in the ministry of Pastor Carl Otto on Aug. 2, 2009. It also celebrated the 40th anniversary in the teaching ministry of Principal Mike Hein and the 25th anniversary in the teaching ministry of Nancy Borchard on Oct. 18, 2009.
MN—The Martin Luther College Ladies' Auxiliary is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
West Lutheran High School, Plymouth, Minn., celebrated its 30th anniversary during the weekend of Oct. 2–4, 2009.
SC—Members of Atonement, Plano, Texas, celebrated its 25th anniversary on April 25.
