BOARD FOR WORLD MISSIONS - 414-256-3233
Douglas Weiser, pastor at Calvary, Bellevue, Wash., and liaison to Nigeria for the Africa administrative committee of the Board for World Missions, and Timothy Gerbing, pastor at Christ, Pewaukee, Wis., traveled to Nigeria during January and February to visit our sister synods, All Saints Lutheran Church of Nigeria and Christ the King Lutheran Church of Nigeria. While there, they traveled to congregations; taught classes to the pastors and elders; stayed at the seminary in Uruk Uso; and visited a new borehole in Egbinyi, which provides the community its only sanitary water. The borehole, made possible by a grant from the WELS Humanitarian Aid Committee, was built adjoining a plot of land provided by the village for a new mission church. Says Weiser, "Although it was a long drive into the bush, the visit to the people of Egbinyi helped connect All Saints and WELS to the borehole and urged the men of the community to join the women and children in the Lutheran mission church there."

COMMUNICATION SERVICES - 414-256-3210
WELS Communication Services in cooperation with the Ministry of Christian Giving released the WELS 2010 Annual Report in January. This year, the report, which offers a quick snapshot of the ministry WELS conducts as a church body, was published in an attractive, easy-to-read brochure format. Six copies of the report were sent to each congregation at the end of January. Additional copies are available for purchase through Northwestern Publishing House, www.nph.net, while supplies last.
