May 2011
May 2011
This month many Americans will be calling or visiting a special person in their life. Someone who fed them, clothed them, disciplined them, protected them, loved them, their mom. May 8 is Mother's Day, a time when we remember and celebrate our moms and what they have done and are doing for us. (Thanks, Mom!)
Pastor Ken Brokmeier shares some of his favorite memories of his mother, who died just one year ago. He especially stresses his mom's faith and the lessons she taught that he continues to carry with him.
Often moms have to be strong in the face of trials to help their children cope. But what happens when a mom struggles? In this issue, a mom shares the questions she asked and the pain she felt after losing her unborn baby. She also shares where she found her one true comfort: God's Word.
Men, don't feel neglected. A new series starts this issue that speaks directly to you. Pastor Jeff Bovee, through words and images, shares how you can get in the game—the spiritual game of faith and life. This month he talks about God's plan for men at home. Look for future articles on involvement in church, work, and the community.

Bible translation revision
Have you heard that the publishers of the New International Version (NIV) of the Bible have updated the translation? A Translation Evaluation Committee has been established to study and examine this new translation, along with other English language translations. The committee has compiled essays, information, and studies on the topic.
