  1. Read Isaiah 37:14-20.  On what was the destruction of the Assyrian army contingent?
  2. Read Acts 27:34.  On his way to Rome for trial, Paul’s ship was caught in a terrible storm. For fourteen days the ship was tossed about, and for all that time the men on board went without food. Why did Paul urge them to eat?
  3. Read Ephesians 4:28.  How does God normally provide for those in need?
  4. Could God provide for our physical welfare without the use of secondary means? Is it wrong to expect this to happen?
  5. Read Matthew 9:12.  Whether the sickness is spiritual or physical, what is necessary for a sick person to do? Why?
  6. Read John 3:5.  What does Jesus tell Nicodemus is necessary for entering the kingdom of God? To what is this a reference?
  7. Read 1 Thessalonians 2:13.  What is at work in those who believe? What is meant by “at work”?
  8. Read Matthew 26:26,27.  What is there about the words of institution that makes the Lord’s Supper a means of grace?
  9. Read Luke 22:21,22.  For what two reasons would it happen that Jesus would be betrayed into the hands of his enemies? How could both be true?
  10. Read John 19:15.  Was Pilate or anyone else forcing the Jews to call for Jesus’ crucifixion? What led them to do this? Was Jesus crucified because this was God’s plan to save the world or because Pilate issued the command?  Explain.
