The Organization of WELS Lutheran Seniors (OWLS) celebrated its 25th anniversary in Eau Claire, Wis., from July 6–9. OWLS members participated in worship, presentations, tours, and an anniversary banquet, at which original members of OWLS were recognized. At the anniversary celebration, OWLS fulfilled its goal of raising $50,000 for the European Chaplaincy for 2008–2009 and committed to do the same in 2009–2010.
WELS Summer Strings was started this summer in Watertown, Wis., to give are a string players an opportunity for group performance. More than 30 string players participated during this inaugural season, with ages ranging from 9 to 84.
