Congregations that have not yet participated in this year's annual "Walking Together" celebration are encouraged to do so. Begun in 2005, the Walking Together service celebrates all we accomplish, through God's grace, as WELS.

This year, the focus is on 1 Corinthians 12: 4-7 and the unique role laypeople play in service to God's church. The highlight is a special video presentation profiling a couple from Abiding Peace near Greenville, S.C., and how the Holy Spirit led them to our WELS fellowship and to serve in a variety of ways.

"We found the Walking Together video to be very inspiring—it's great to see the stewardship perspective from these new Christians' point of view," says Mr. Adam Nass, chairman of the stewardship taskforce at Trinity, Waukesha, Wis. "In fact, we enjoyed the video and its message so much we are using it as a primary discussion piece for our congregation's stewardship presentations this fall."

The Ministry of Christian Giving has developed a variety of resources to help congregations conduct a "Walking Together" Sunday, including the DVD presentation, a Bible study, sermon, worship suggestions, and resources for collecting a special offering. All were mailed to congregations in February, but are available through the synod's new private Intranet, Connect; a username and password are required. If you don't have a Connect account, sign up today.
