In Feb. 2004, the WELS Model English Language Outreach Program opened at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, Wis. Representatives from congregations and missions can receive training on how to set up volunteer-based adult outreach programs, starting with a few volunteers and teacher resource materials.

The need for ongoing medical care led Committee on Relief to Haiti in the months after the earthquake. Volunteer nurses shared their compassion and their faith.

Hong Kong, one of the wealthiest and most crowded cities in the world, is a place where people are learning that success does not equal hope. People are searching for a religious base. This is the environment in which WELS opened Asia Lutheran Seminary.

Like a relay team, our four synodical schools work together to develop pastors, teachers, and leaders.
